Dress and matching hanger.

Postby lexie » February 19th, 2017, 4:23 am

This week I managed to sew a dress for my daughter, and today finished the
matching hanger.
The fabric Cindy chose is sateen and a small percentage of spandex. The pattern
chosen is Simplicity 8086 and designed by Cynthia Rowley. The bodice and midriff
are lined and this style of dress seems to define Cindy's waistline very nicely.
The matching hanger has tear-drop pearls on the bottom row of the smocked
block and pearlescent glass seed beads in the top row. I had just started on the
cable row and the idea to add pearls came into my mind, and I do like the
results very much.

Lexie, that is so beautiful!! I love the colors and the pearls. The dress is very elegant looking and looks like it would be flattering on whoever wore it. I am sure she loves it. That hanger is just the icing on the cake.

Just beautiful, love the touch of pearls. The dress is so pretty and the fabric is perfect for that style
How do you get such a beautiful wrap on your hanger hook?.

Love the dress! And how nice to have a hanger to match. Great job.

That is a good style, I have a similar dress and it is very comfortable and flattering.

Hi Nonie. Lovely to see you again on Facebook. You have been very missed.

For the hook, cut fabric on the cross, 7" X 1 1/8 .

Fold in half lengthwise and iron. Open out then press each long edge to the centre line and press again.

Fold the long sides together and also the top edge. I then handstitch with 2 threads starting at the very left
on the top edge then across and down the right side. This is actually a bit long so I check it beside the hook
as it gets longer.

Hope this helps. Lexie. Please let me know if I haven't explained it too well.

Love them both Lexie. That dress is beautiful in its simplicity. The fabric choice is perfect! And the added beads on the hanger are just the right touch.
