OESD Sleigh and Reindeer

Post by KarenVA »

I finished this one!! It was fun to make--but only had 6 reindeer! So, I made two more. I haven't figured out how I would make a Rudolph yet!

Thanks, Sara. It's a combo of FSL and Free Standing applique.

That's so neat! How many stitches is that?

Someone asked in a FB group yesterday which metallic thread to use for FSL, and many said KingStar. Some said use a metallic needle and slow the machine down. Some said to use the Sew-n-wash type that is more fibrous but washes away. What do you use?

Thanks, Ladies!

Shirley—this is just Isacord white thread. Usually, when I use metallic thread, it’s Superior Threads with a 14/90 topstitch needle. Medium machine speed.

It is absolutely gorgeous Karen!!! You could do the same reindeer for Rudolph and add a tiny pom pom to the nose.

I thought of adding a jewel to his nose, but I'm not sure how to make a single reindeer stand up like the pairs.

I wasn't even paying attention to how they stand up. Since you have that little hole at the bottom, you should be able to use something very small as a stand. Maybe a very small piece of white pipe cleaner? It will bend so you can manipulate it.

Beautiful -- and a lot of stitching!!
Like you, I never understand designs or decorations without Santa's full team of reindeer! There has to be some way to make Rudolph stand up.
