Fig Cookies
Fig Cookies
The recipe for the dough is posted in an earlier post--and you could use cinnamon applesauce for the filling, if you don't have figs.

Re: Fig Cookies
some how I am going to find figs!
Re: Fig Cookies
Figs are hard to find around here anymore. Very few people have a tree, and if they do, most of them can the figs for their own use. My mom used to make fig preserves! I can taste them now!

Re: Fig Cookies
Oh,my, Karen. I am not sure which are more beautiful, the figs or the cookies. Sigh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I spent so many hours climbing our fig tree as a child. But when they were ready to pick my grandmother would come visit and start canning. She never baked with them at all. She preserved them whole in a clove flavored syrup and I remember nights that she would make homemade bread, still warm and we would have that, slices of sharp cheddar cheese and the preserved figs and syrup poured on top. I think to this day it was one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten. Thanks for the memories!
