My niece requested a lunch bag to serve two purposes: to hold her lunch and to drop in a book. She also wanted a cross body strap to make it easier to carry.

I found this cute Bento Bag tutorial http://www.rebeccamaedesigns.com/homesweethome/bento-bag-a-lunch-bag-tutorial/ and thought it would be perfect. I simply lengthened the strap and used some scrap fabric. I used a bright red ripstop for the lining.

I do not like the way the zipper is installed, and I will definitely change that next time. I couldn't do it this time without totally redoing the bag. I want that zipper to come to the edges on both sides.

But since it is separating, I couldn't get a longer zip shortened to the right length. No one in town had zippers stops, and I wasn't ordering online and delaying getting this to her.

She was happy with it, and that's all that matters.

Your right, she was happy and that is all that matters. Again, another great, creative gift.
