Ikat Pillows

Postby angelalee511 » October 27th, 2014, 10:43 am

I found this Ikat fabric at our local fabric store. I was quite pricey so I opted to use it for the pillow fronts and a blue micro suede for the piping and backs. I cut a piece for a bolster but used the pi method for measuring the circumference. That was a mistake. It was too small, so now I'll have to rethink my original design. I also have an idea for a lumbar pillow and will use the scraps for it. Not sure why my camera didn't like the pillow back. I could not get it to focus properly.

Angela,
I actually think I like that better than if both sides were the ikat fabric.

Pretty!!! I hate when I make dumb mistakes - particularly when the fabric is expensive. Ugh! I'm sure you'll come up with a solution for your cut piece of fabric - you have such good ideas.

This print is so pretty, it makes me want to finally settle on doing our bedroom in blues. Did you get the rest of the project worked out? Yes, I like using the solid for the back or even to just use as a change look.

Not yet Nonie. I haven't decided how to fix it yet. It's also more cost effective to use a different backing than the expensive fabric. Call me frugal? :rotflo:

Angela, I see I have not commented; I loved this fabric design as soon as you showed it. Artsy, dramatic, it is blue, lovely lovely blue!

I'm sure you don't remember the duffle bag I made for a favor for a birthday party a couple years ago. I had a huge problem with getting the end caps correct. That PI thing just didn't work for me at all. Why not? I thought it was my brain and not translating correctly....it does that with vertigo--the one long-lasting result. But, perhaps, PI is a figment of our math teachers' imagination! :rotflo:

When you get the problem figured out, let me know.
