Monogrammed Valances for The kitchen

Postby nana judy » November 18th, 2013, 11:21 am

I bought this fabric at a July 4th sale and it was still in the bag. I didn't use a pattern but did get the inspiration from a Butterick pattern. The pattern has ribbon ties on the side but I sewed through 2 buttons instead. They were very simple to make.

Hey, that IS a cool idea, Judy! I think that grey patterned fabric is very popular now.
Did you do the letter "S" on only the top layer? I'm thinking you could flip them around later on, if you wanted a different look. Very cool. 8)

I love it. I am making curtains for my newly redone kitchen and was wondering what to do over the sink window. I don't have room for the whole valance but I think maybe I will do a monogram.

I love the color gray on your wall. We are doing the major part of our first floor in gray as soon as the painter gets here. I am hoping before Thanksgiving but will settle for before Christmas. The painter said - gray is the new "it" color. It is almost all he has been doing. I have the huge paint chips tacked on all my walls - there are about a million shades of gray. I just need to pick one.

I like the buttons better than I would like ribbon ties.

Wow? That subtle grey pops with all the geomettics, doesn't it...love the squares, the diagonal cut and the swirl,of your monogram. Very nice.

Thanks for the sweet comments. These were very quick to make-- took almost as long to sew the buttons on the sides as to make the valances. I am no curtain rod hanger and Randy had to redo the rods when he came home last night.

Snazzy! I love this look. Makes me wish I had a place in my kitchen for something like this!

Classy! Judy, I really like your idea. The gray and white with the geometric print look great with the monogram.
