Velvet pole swag valance

Postby angelalee511 » January 23rd, 2018, 10:31 am

I had some Velvet left over from the tab top panels and hated to see it go to waste. So we decided to do a swag for the adjoining bathroom and I'll use the rest for pillows.

I'm really happy with this one considering I was so afraid the velvet would be dominant and pull the lining to the front. But it didn't. I have it clipped here to train the folds so it is pulling just a bit but that's expected. Once I release the clips, it will hang straighter. I even have two little oopsies on this one and I may go back and fix one because the more I see it the more it bothers me. :rotflo:

I think I need to clean my camera lense. This picture is terrible! Excuse my mess in the background. :rotflo: I have no idea what some of that is but I definitely need to get it cleaned up. :rotflo:

A wonderful job for sure. I don't think I would have the courage to tackle that job, but you did fantastic.

That is beautiful! I don't know how you manage those heavy fabrics.

Very nice!!! Your tabs...amaze me, they are part of the valance, not seamed on?

I know I saw these before, so what happened to my post? I love the look of the tabs without the seams. Are you going to share your secret as to how you made those?

Thank you ladies for all the sweet comments.

Linda, they are all in one piece. No seams on the tabs.

Karen, it is Mccall's pattern 5872. Very easy pattern too. It's a 3 piece pattern; swag, jabot and center trumpet. The tabs are built into the pattern. I did have to modify this one a little to get the length I needed.
