Katya and Jeans

Postby Jenny Jo » March 6th, 2015, 4:30 pm

I made this little outfit to contribute to the doll raffle that my smocking guild will be doing later this year. The top pattern is Genine's Katya. The smocking plate is the heart from Smocked Miniatures 1 by Debbie Glenn. I flag-ified it and added a button star. I more-or-less used Genine's headscarf pattern, which is included with the Katya. I enlarged it and made it fully reversible. I also closed it with elastic rather than ribbon.

The jeans are the bootcut jeans by Liberty Jane. The instructions are abysmal. I tried to find some other mention online of how people interpreted the poor instructions, but all references to this pattern are nothing but gushy. If you are making this pattern and would like to read my full review, you can see it at patternreview. Genine's excellent patterns have completely spoiled me for anything less.

Those are the cutest jeans!! One would never know you had any type of problem or question with construction. I am sorry to hear the pattern was a disappointment.

Love the smocked top and head scarf! I need to start thinking about outfits for a doll auction this summer.

What a cute outfit!!! I hate that the jeans pattern instructions were so bad. And that all the reviews would be gushy - ack! That's what I hate about all these PDF pattern designers and testers and followers - seems that nobody will give a true review of a pattern. Makes me not trust any of them - well, other than Genine! :D Yes, we're all spoiled!

JennyJo, you are truly the couturiere of dolly fashion!! This is such a darling Americana outfit for the auction. I can't wait to see a picture of all the ensembles your chapter puts together!

Those are so very adorable, Jenny Jo. I think you put that outfit together very nicely, and someone will absolutely love it. I too have been disappointed with PDF patterns. It's a shame people don't review them more objectively. I but based on reviews.

You did an excellent job working through the problems with the jeans. Your Katya top is just adorable! Very nice work, Jenny Jo.
