Alterations aren't my thing!

Postby Linda in NM » January 5th, 2015, 9:11 am

Man, I just lost my post! Anyway, I picked up two newborn onsies, hoping they would fit Bitty Baby. They do not! The red and blue started out the same size, and I challenged myself to make one fit. I had to take every seam apart, fit it to the doll, then re-sew. The snap band in the front was easy; I just cut it off and re-sewed it on top of the fabric. I had to take the bottom band sewing out, then insert the onsie fabric and re-sew. The sleeves were way too big, but I cut them down.

This is not something I would normally do, but I just wanted to see if I could make it fit. I probably won't do it again. Who am I kidding. I'll never do it again! Challenge accepted and won. I now retire from alterations.

Well, I think you did a great job with the alterations! That is not something I would want to tackle either. I wonder if a preemie size would fit the doll.

Wow, a huge pat on the back!! I was wondering also if the waist could be cut shorter and a ribbon used to create a "belt".
