when I start on a project and then take a break!!!
I forgot what I had done.
I wasn't really sure of Holt's total length measurement for the Kip pattern I was going to make him. So I cut it out, leaving a little extra length, in case he had grown some, which he had, but not that much.
So, in my excitement to get it done, I went ahead and embroidered an applique on the bottom of the leg. Of course, I didn't take off the extra length first.
ARGHHHHH
But I made it anyway and put elastic in the hem. Oh well, I guess he might could wear it to Mothers Day out!!

Oh Sara....it is DARLING, even if his little pumpkins might end up dragging on the ground!

I hope he can wear it for quite awhile anyway...it is adorable! :D

Is that elastic at the bottom of the legs? If so, it'll work!!! Won't look bad, and he'll get some wear out of it. Karen

well another booboo on this was the choice of fabric. I used featherwale corduroy and there was just too much bulk for this style. It works wonderfully for a jon jon but I didn't like it for this style.
Lesson learned!!

Sooo cute!! Maybe the elastic will keep it up. Really like the turkey and pumpkins.

Sara,
That is precious! I have seen that turkey applique on ebay and have wanted it for a long time. I recently made some Helen and Hank john- johns for my 9 mos. old DGS, and my DIL requested that I use elastic on the leg bottoms (instead of the cuff). I added 2 inches to the length and made bias casings to run the elastic through. Turned out great and she is pleased with them. Very similar to what you have done.

The colors in the appliques and piping combined with the rich corduroy make for a beautiful outfit. It just says "fall". I always love looking at your creations.
