Boo Boo W/A Snap Fastener

Postby Becky56 » July 29th, 2011, 6:46 am

I hope someone can advise me with this one.

I have been making bibs for my Etsy shop and consignment. For closures I use the snap fasteners that have prongs and are applied by using a hammer. My DH has been doing the snaps for me. On one of my favorite bibs, that is supposed to go to a gift shop next week, he got one of them put on backwards. Is there any way of removing these w/o ruining the fabric?

Short of making another bib and calling this one an oops, I am at a loss.

Here is a picture of it. It is cotton on the top, and cotton chenille on the back.

TIA

Oh what a cute bib. I have pretty good luck using a screw driver and getting under the rim and pulling them off, haven't damaged any fabric doing it that way. I sure hate when that happens.

I also have done this and rescued using a small flat screwdriver and a lot of patience. I can share your frustration because the snap is usually the finishing touch and last task. Hope it is a save for you!! Good luck, Del

It worked! I used one of the very small screwdrivers I have with my sewing machine attachments. It came off easily and didn't damage the fabric.

I wouldn't have ever thought to do that. Thank you all!

Glad that worked for you - I've had to do that from time to time as well. :P
