Hancocks of Paducah

Postby allie354 » July 8th, 2007, 6:10 am

I just ordered from Hancock's of Paducah which is separate from the chain Hancock stores. The owners are nephew and great nephew of the chain store founders and are originally from my home town. The owner and his wife grew up here and I bought my first fabric at his mom's local store. She closed her store and retired to Paducah about 10 years ago. I know the family and have talked to Justin on occassion. If you are a quilter, you know about Paducah!

Anyhow....I ordered some Moda London Lawns that are on sale right now ($4.98 yd) for smocking, both bishops and yoke dresses. There are fine quilting type cotton fabric in beautiful small florals based on Liberty of London prints. I got mine very quickly--4 days Fed Ex. They are beautiful!! Check them out:

Just found this history on the Hancock's of Paducah website: It tells of my home town, Batesville and the "original" Hancock's store here where I always found great fabrics and learned my love of them. Mrs. Dorothy always gave great advice to a 15--40 something year old when I needed it!

The Hancocks chain stores are headquarted in Tupelo MS which is 75 miles east.
