Osnaburg Fabric

Want more information about a certain fabric? Or what fabric will work for certain projects.

Osnaburg Fabric

Is osnaburg the same thing as muslin :?:

Not really the same as muslin. It is used alot in quilting and has the look of linen. I supose you couild use it in place of muslim.

Nonie, I was watching a Martha Pullen show and she called the fabric osnaburg and her guest refered to it as muslin so I wondered if it was the same thing. Do you know if they sell it at JoAnn's?

I would think Joanns would carry it. You could call your local shop and see. I think quilters use it. The fabric I have seen in our quilt shop is not as soft as muslin, some of it has nubs on it. I am sure there are different qualities.

Osnaburg is heavier than muslin and has little flecks in it, much more so than muslin. If you have ever seen a Country Curtains catalogue they use a lot of it in the diffferent curtains. It comes just in the natural color. Oh the things I remember from my long lost fabric store days!
