Alina - enjoy your travels and your smocking!

Charlotte - can't wait to see yours - I know it's pretty with that lovely floral print you used.

Nonie - is your neckline/collar done and stitched? If so, lay the bodice out as it would be worn, with the back bodices behind the front bodice. Then you will see how the armholes sit out to the side and you can sort out and pin the front armholes to the back armholes on the fashion side of the garment. Then you can take the armholes of the lining and pin them together as well. I'm very visual and it helps to "see" it laid out. Does that help? If not, I'll see if I can come up with a drawing or something.

Maybe you could come up with a drawing, I have done what you said and I still can not grasp how the lining and arm come together? I have the collar done, trimmed and underling stitch done. I have laid the top down like you suggested and it still will not come to me. I will try again in the morning, maybe I am over thinking this.

Karen's looks great! Love the floss whipped piping!!!

You can't think about it Nonie - you just have to do it! :rotflo: :rotflo: :rotflo: Make your arm seams, then pin as instructed and follow the instructions without thinking. It will work.

Loved the hint of using floss color I had intended to use for smocking to whip over black piping that Kathy suggested. Could not find fabric the right color, and this is working great. Thank you Kathy, for always being willing to help any and all of us.

Yesterday was the day to finish smocking the doll dress, final press and then pictures. I used my smocking design from AS&E called "Paisley Park" but decided not to make flower petals in the center and just left the flower centers as dots. I tried to make the doll dress design look similar. I opted for no pockets because I didn't like the way that it looked with the border and such - too much going on (though I know the girls love pockets!).

My hope is to start another one - maybe a more traditional print - and work along with anyone else that wants to join in. :) I have so much fabric!!!

Keep posting pictures - maybe we can get more to join in and start a Frannie!!!

I have always loved that pattern when I have seen it in the SB magazine and when people here have made it. I don't have that pattern, nor do I have anyone to sew for at the moment, but I have enjoyed seeing what everyone else is doing. You are really fast, Kathy! But you do this kind of thing all of the time!

You girls are rocking right along.

Karen and Nonie, yours are looking good.

Love how yours turned out Kathy!

Did the pattern appear in one of the SB issues? Just curious.

Robin, this is an out of print pattern. That's why more didn't participate. I bought it 12 years ago and never made it. No longer available anyplace. Martha Pullen bought the rights, but I don't think you can even purchase her's. The original instructions are horrible by our standards. Maybe in Australia they make sense, but very difficult for some of us.
Nonie, I feel your pain. Was there for almost 3 days.
Now I'm stuck at a different place. The bodice doesn't want to match up with the skirt........... :humble: :sob: :sob:

The instruction: with right sides of the outer and lining armholes together and the original stitching line on top, hand baste these pieces together. Check for accuracy and then machine stitch. Note: The yokes will be twisted inside one another so confirm that they will, in fact turn right right side out when stitched, before you commence.

Is it to early to have a drink or two?

yup - that's it!!! :rotflo: :rotflo: :rotflo: I didn't even bother with basting, I just machine stitched and hoped for the best. It works.

Perhaps an easier way to say it. Once you have the armholes pinned with right sides together (and yes, everything will be all twisted up), stitch the armhole so that your previous stitching line (from attaching the piping) is on top so that you can see and follow that line. ??? Maybe?

Hope that helps a little. It's really difficult to describe. Much easier to demonstrate.
