would you

I am trying out different ideas and am wondering do you think this ribbon goes wit this fabric? the bees seem to be more golden then yellow. I have no clue where the ribbon came from.

I normally don't like black on children, but this (and Halloween) might be an exception. I would use black and white gingham piping or binding, or black rick rack. I have also seen cute black/white check or stripe ribbon that would work. I think these yellows fight each other. Just my 2 cents. :)

Like Jan, I'm not a fan of black on anyone. However, I do like it as an accent color and would probably go with black rather than a yellow that doesn't quite match.

Thank you, I was thinking that but wondering what black would look like.

Here's a picture of some of the outfits that I've done with black as an accent:

This one would have been equally cute with black rick rack:

I know I have others, but cannot "find" them at the moment. LOL!

Those are just adorable. I do so love the smocked bee :D I am so happy you added the pictures, I think black is the way to go. I like Jan's idea and your picture of black and white ribbon. Here is just plain black, but think I will find some black and white.

You could also stitch a white or yellow ribbon down the center of the rick rack to soften the black. :)

I like the black. Maybe it is because we are in the North but we do put black on little kids. Many Christmas dresses are black - black velvet, black taffeta, dressy fabrics but I think we might see as many black as other colors. Maybe not as often on really little babies but kids around here wear black all the time.

I had ribbon that had those same bees on it.

I love that fabric! I think I have the same one tucked in my layers of fabric in the drawers!

Thank you Jan and Kathy for the ideas. This is where I am now, as you can see I can change a few things, so let me know if I am on the right track.

I think it's perfect! I love the yellow down the center of the black - it softens it up nicely. I think you've got a winner! I also love the black gingham.

This is where I am at now. I still can't find my 4" hoop so the embroidery will need to wait.
