Re: sewing techniques

My list is also long. My bullions need work and so does my shadow work. My trellis stitch still looks crooked. When machine sewing my biggest problem is that I can't follow pattern directions. I get so confused! I have to see it being done. I told you my list is long!!

Is this the technique that you would use when making a reversible jumper?

If I stitch below the seam line won't it show? I guess I'm a visual person or just slow!! Thanks for all of the help.

Hi I'm Karla

I'm Karla Buras from New Orleans, LA. I haven't been sewing for very long. When my children were babies(over 25 years ago) I smocked and did French hand sewing, etc. My mother would then construct the garments. My kids grew and I stopped doing handwork. sewing gathers

I am making a onesie with a gathered skirt attached ( the skirt is a vintage pillowcase). Do any of you guys have any hints about attaching a gathered skirt or sleeves ? When I do this I sew down the gathers so they look more like pleats. YUK!! Any advice would be welcomed!
Thanks,
Karla

reversible jumper

Thanks Kreolemom. It looks like you are from my neck of woods. I am using the Creative Keepsakes A-Line jumper pattern. I was going to sew the dress as I would if I were just lining it, But where should I leave the opening so it is not noticable. When doing the lining it seems easier to hide it.

Reversible jumper

I haven't been sewing long and would like to make a reversible jumper (buttons on straps). What is the best way to make it? Is there a way to sew the entire dress together ,even the hems then turn it right side out?
