Re: tube quilt

Nonie,I did not. I cut my strips I believe 3" x WOF. I cut way too many, since the quilt was only 3' x 3'. That's all she wanted.

Re: New to sewing, denim questions

It depends on whether or not you want to spend the extra money to make the machine sit in the table. I honestly don't know that it makes a huge difference. My machine sits on top of my table ( I have a Viking) and the only time I really wish it sat in the table is when I'm working on quilts or long ...

Re: tube quilt

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5WgTyqB8Pc This is the easiest way to explain. You basically sew strips together. Two color strips with a white in the center and two white strips with a color in the center. Then stitch those two together along both long edges forming a tube. Then cut them into tri...

tube quilt

I didn't have time to wait for great weather to snap a picture of the finished quilt but I did have pics of the quilt top when I was trying to decide how to arrange my squares. I had plenty of mistakes on this quilt but I learned so much from doing it, so I call it a success. Sorry about my work spa...

Re: Some organizing done!

The organizing should help get your mojo back. It worked for me. I found stuff I forgot I had and that made me want to use it. I never did, but it got me wanting to at least. :rotflo: :rotflo: It is looking great!! Having things in their place will also calm you.

Re: Waterville

It really does remind me of Little House on the Prairie. That should be on a postcard.

Re: Custom sized cutting mat?

The one I have now is white with blue lines. I don't like it for several reasons. It is not self healing and fabric snags on the cuts in the mat, white fabric is difficult to see on the white background of the mat, and it's hard to keep clean. I'm thinking I want one of those green/black self healin...

Custom sized cutting mat?

I have one that I ordered somewhere out west years ago, and I've never liked it. But I kept it because is was so expensive and custom so couldn't be returned. I need a 48x60 self healing mat. There used to be a place in Atlanta but they have since merged with Wawak and no longer have the custom size...

Re: Gathered tab top velvet panels

This is the back of the finished panel, collars attached. IMG_5225.jpg And this is how that humongous panel looked at my sewing desk. LOL IMG_5218.jpg And this is what happens when a silly girl tries to gather that panel along with her pins and hoist them up on her work table. Oh my what a mess! I'm...

Gathered tab top velvet panels

I don't have great pictures yet, but I thought I'd show you what I have so far. This is the full panel, but it's missing 4 of the "little collars" I didn't realize I only had one on when I snapped this. IMG_E5207.jpg These are the tabs pinned to the front panel. The tabs are two layers of ...

Re: A little help please

These are called triple stacked cones I believe - at least that's what I find when I Google. Jan, I think I can use this pattern but stitch it together to form the circle then tack them together to form the cones. I do believe the weight at the top will be a challenge if using tabs. My original thou...

Re: A little help please

That's what I think too Nancy. I'm not sure of the dimensions though. I'll have to play with it this weekend. Thank you.

Re: A little help please

Yes, velvet with a cream lining. So I won't do the contrast on the inverted tab. I'll also most likely eliminate that bottom seam of that contrast fabric in the photo. I'll have to keep the top one I think for the tabs.
