Re: Gathered tab top velvet panels

Pictures tell so much more! I admired you before, for taking on these home decor projects. You are now my hero!! I cannot imagine stitching all that heavy velvet on your sewing desk! You amaze me. I think we all can feel your pain over the spilled pins. A very creative use for the antique irons! I h...

Re: A little help please

I am sure your friend would love to have them before the holidays. I think this is definitely a project, which should you choose to accept, is something that needs to be done when you have plenty of time, no other deadlines or the craziness of holidays. I hope she will be open to ideas that might wo...

Re: A little help please

On a second, and closer look, I guess they just reversed the jabot. The two edges are meeting, and together form the bottom point. Instead, you would start with a piece with straight top and sides. The bottom of the piece would be concave, as if a circle had been cut out -- I think? I can see it, bu...

Re: A little help please

We have something similar on a window. It is called a double stacked jabot. The closest I could find for instructions is here. https://www.rowleycompany.com/images/I_4AB_DYC40_Jabot_Template_System.pdf The beginning shape is a pentagon shape. On mine, and the one in the link above, you will see two ...

Re: More microwave bowls

Love all of them! I really need to pull mine out and finish. I even purchased soup bowls to coordinate with them. My plan was to gift a fabric bowl, ceramic bowl and soup mix (or something similar) as Christmas gifts. I think just the fabric bowls also make great holiday and hostess gifts. Thanks fo...

Re: Again, more place mats

She will love these! So fun and festive!

I think flannel is a great idea. I find some batting a little too "fluffy", making the mats less stable for certain glasses or dishes.
Great job!

Re: Iron away stabilizer

I have not used it in a long time. As Kathy said, it usually turns into grey/black ash. I seem to recall having some problems brushing it away if there was much texture to what you were sewing. It did seem to wash away fine. But, you might as well use wash away, if you end up needing to wash it! :) ...

Re: Quilt label

I thought your Viking was a combo sewing/embroidery. My older Pfaff is a sewing machine only and has lettering. The lettering does have connecting stitches between each letter, so it is not always as crisp and clean as lettering from an embroidery machine. It cannot do the tie offs and jump stitches...

Re: The beauty of fall

I doubt we have much fall color. It has remained hot and dry enough this past month, the leaves are simply falling off the trees. We could get a sudden freeze this weekend, and they will really begin falling. Like Angela, we usually don't get the beautiful fall colors many of you do. Thanks for shar...

Re: Quilt label

Nonie, I forget what type of machine you have? Is it one of the newer Viking combo machines? If so, I think there are simple fonts on your machine that you can make your own label. That might be easiest. I always found the instructions in my Viking owners manual to be very clear in how to merge lett...

Re: Meet Willa the Witch!

Congrats on completing a UFO!!

Much more fun to enjoy cute Willa this season, than send her back into a dark box or drawer. She is an adorable witch!

Re: Simplicity 1722 All comments and suggetions welcome

Thanks for explaining it further, Luzenia. I am sure you know what will work best for Jamie! I agree the bound neckline will allow you to distribute fullness where it works best for her situation. My incision ended up being larger than expected. My thyroid had branched, twisting all around my vocal ...
